"Run your own race." Often we get stuck on what others are doing, whether it be how much weight they have lost, how fast they ran, how far they ran, etc. I like to focus on my own personal achievements and put 100-percent effort into bettering myself. It doesn't do me any favors to worry about another person while I am literally and figuratively running my race, I just need to focus on myself.
Jamie Celentano wasn’t always a runner, but after becoming fed up with her inactive lifestyle she and her husband, Mike, started the Couch-to-5K program in 2011. Almost instantly they were hooked! Since June 2011 they have competed in numerous road races, including five half marathons and two triathlons. Jamie and Mike were both swimmers growing up so the transition to triathlons was a natural one. The hardest part for Jamie is biking! They hope to compete in Ironman Louisville in 2014. Jamie has caught the racing “bug” and she and her husband have been training for their first marathon. They will take on this endeavor at the Wineglass Marathon in Bath, New York September 2012. Jamie spends her “free time” (as much of it as she can have with all the training) working as a sign language interpreter at a local college in Rochester, New York, playing with her and her husband’s dog, two cats and one bird, hiking and visiting as many lighthouses as possible! She also spends a lot of time blogging at From Couch to Ironwoman.
