Kris Olsen

Kris is 48 years old, lives in Columbus. OH with her husband Aaron. They have three grown sons, two of them serve in the Air Force Reserve. Kris was introduced to running three years ago. Running became an outlet for her during the loss of her best friend, brother and her father to cancer. Kris was encouraged to run a half marathon by a race director. Her words were "You will never catch me running a half." Well, she did run that half in May of 2011, and in Sept 2011 she ran a half at the Air Force Marathon, dedicating her race to two Fallen Heroes. In Oct 2011 Kris was invited to be 1 of the 109 runners of The Empire State Building Run Up, she ran this race Feb 2012. This race would be dedicated in honor of her father who lost his battle with cancer. Kris raised $2700 for cancer research. Kris and her husband have run some mud races together as well. May of 2012 she ran her 3rd half, and had her PR. This summer she also did her first Girls Tri Too. This May, Kris was selected by The Columbus Marathon to be 1 of the 20 runners to be ambassadors to run at the Dresden Marathon, Dresden Germany. Her first International race. She is excited, humbled and honored to be representing Columbus, OH. She is looking forward to getting her next PR in Germany! Running has given her so much more than she ever imagined!
