Lena is the heart and soul behind the blog The Beginners Runner. The blog came about after Lena began running and couldn’t find answers to simple questions like “is it a faux pas to wear the race shirt during the race?”, “Which types of energy Gu’s and chews are best, and why?” So, she put together a blog where beginner runners could come and get some answers to their questions and lament on the struggles a runner experiences with every new challenge.
A beginner runner herself, Lena started running in October 2011 when she was dared to complete a 5K by the end of the year. Knowing that she could walk that distance without much issue, the only way it would be a challenge was to run it. She started training for the run and continued far beyond the completion of the race.
Lena continues to run and train to run her first half marathon in 2013 and participate in runDisney races in the future. With her running has come a new thirst for knowledge and understanding of health and well-being. Along with her running training, she is re-training her eating habits and making healthful decisions in the foods she prepares for herself and her husband. A fitter and healthier body and lifestyle has made a world of difference in her life and she hopes to share the knowledge and positive reinforcement with all she comes into contact with.
