Nancy Matican-Bock

I have several things that I say over and over:
- Be your own health advocate!
- Strong has always been sexy!
- No matter how many times you get knocked down, you must get up every time!
- And, if you stay ready, then you don't have to get ready!
Being diagnosed with Hashimoto’s Disease in 1999, losing her mother to cancer, and being a firsthand survivor of 9/11, Nancy is no stranger to life’s stresses. Nancy believes “Life will find a way to knock you down; you just have to keep getting back up!”
Nancy works to bridge the connection between medical wellness, peak performance and optimum fitness. “Good nutrition and increased activity can be a preventative maintenance tool to good health and/or a way to improve upon symptoms that may be presenting. It’s not just about aesthetics…looking good is a side effect of good physical fitness and great athleticism.” Nancy is an advocate of an organic and gluten free lifestyle and knows that this is a way to improve all aspects of your life. “When you feel good, life is good and you are better prepared to handle what comes your way.”
With three brothers, a father who taught Health and Physical Education and a mother who believed in being a strong, independent woman, her life was pretty much determined. She received a BA in Communications and a minor in Health and Physical Education/Coaching from Michigan State University. She then held Senior Executive positions for various fitness technology companies, starting as a sporting goods marketing consultant and moving up through Vice President of Sales. Currently, Nancy has a successful personal training/sports nutrition business, and holds certifications in personal training, sports nutrition, kickboxing, aqua fitness, boot camps and yoga.
Nancy is the fitness lifestyles columnist for Charm on the Space Coast Magazine, an online and print publication as well as Sunshinemamas.com. She uses motivational life coaching tools that she has developed to achieve her goal of “a healthier world one person at a time.”
Having run several New York City Marathons, countless road races including triathlons and duathlons, Nancy embraces her competitive spirit and continues to challenge herself on many levels. She began Stand Up Paddle Boarding and hosts training classes including yoga alongside her Pro Elite SUP Racer/Surfer husband, Chip Bock. Next up; CrossFit Certification and perhaps a fitness/figure competition.
Nancy currently resides in Melbourne Beach, Florida, has been married for almost 11 years and has a beautiful 8 year old daughter who embraces the family’s healthy active lifestyle.
