5 Delicious breakfast bars

Rev up right this morning

Healthy Breakfast Bars

You don't always have time to whip up an omelet or a green smoothie for breakfast, so it's important to have a few grab-and-go snacks on hand to sub in on busy mornings. After taste-testing and ingredient-checking a number of bars on the market, GirlsGoneSporty rounded up our top five healthy and delicious options. Throw one in your bag with a piece of fruit and you'll have breakfast on-hand in less than 30 seconds.

1. KIND Plus

RISE BarTake one look at a KIND Plus bar and you'll know exactly what you're getting - nuts, dried fruits and a little shot of gooey natural sweetener...plus...each bar adds a boost of protein, antioxidants, fiber, calcium or flax to help you meet your nutritional goals. We especially like the Almond Walnut Macadamia + Protein for breakfast because the extra protein and fiber will help keep you full through the morning.

2. Corazonas Oatmeal Squares

Corazonas Cranberry FlaxOats are a fantastic whole grain with a ton of fiber and heart-healthy phytosterols proven to help lower cholesterol, but if you don't have time to whip up a bowl of oatmeal, grab a Corazonas Oatmeal Square instead. These whole-food bars are made of rolled oats, dried fruits and natural sweeteners like brown rice syrup and date puree. Each bar packs six grams of protein and five grams of fiber as well as a number of vitamins and minerals. For a real "breakfast-y" taste, pick up the Cranberry Flax or Banana Walnut flavors - yum!

3. Rise Energy+ Bar

You know how sometimes you eat something, and you just know what you're eating is super healthy? That's how you'll feel when eating a Rise+ Energy Bar. Each bar is organic, gluten-free and contains fewer than 11 total ingredients...all of which you've heard of and can easily pronounce. We especially loved the Organic Coconut Acai Energy+ Bar because it's an unusual flavor combination that wakes your mouth right up!

4. Nature's Path Organic Chewy Granola Bars

Nature's Path Granola BarGranola bars have been around a long time, but most of the granola bars available at the grocery store are glorified candy bars packed with refined sugars and unhealthy fats. Enter Nature's Path Organic Chewy Granola Bars. These bars are, a) organic, b) low in sugar and c) low in calories. Given their calorie count, their fiber and protein content is also quite good, although not as high as some of the other bars on this list. Our favorite flavor is the Pumpkin-n-Spice Bar featuring pumpkin seeds and cinnamon - it tastes delicious with a piping hot cup of coffee.

5. Earnest Eats Baked Whole Food Bar

Earnest EatsSometimes you want to eat something healthy that tastes downright decadent. If you're in a spoil-yourself mood, pick up a box of Earnest Eats Baked Whole Food Bars. Like the other bars on this list, the ingredients are incredibly healthy and natural, but the one thing that's different is the almond butter included in each recipe. This almond butter ensures that each bar is moist and smooth with a melt-in-your-mouth flavor. Our favorite is the Cran Lemon Zest bar because of it's tangy taste.

Thanks for cutting through all the possibilities! I'll look for these at the store. I get tired of reading the labels--glad you did the work.
