Teva Mountain Games 2012 Vail, Colorado Mud Run

The way Coachella is to music and the X-Games are to extreme sports, the Teva Mountain Games are the be-all, end-all of outdoor adventure sporting events. The Vail Valley Foundation will host the 11th annual summer Teva Mountain Games (TMG) from May 31st to June 2nd, 2012 in Vail, Colorado. As the largest celebration of adventure sports, music, art and the mountain lifestyle, TMG attracts more than 2,500 professional and amateur athletes as well as more than 45,000 spectators for a weekend chock full of competitions spanning 24 different disciplines. If you're looking for a fun family vacation focused on living the outdoor lifestyle, you can't go wrong by heading to the heights of the Rocky Mountains to experience the thrill of mountain sports.

If you need to take a break from some of the all-out high-adrenaline competition, you can enjoy free concerts from big names like Keller Williams and The Expendables. Or, if you register, you can participate in the Outside Adventure Film School or the photography competition, Mountain Click. Families and individuals alike will enjoy interactive exhibitions, Gear Town, DockDog competitions, a film series and more. Seriously, if you're looking for a way to experience the thrill of competitive moutain sports while enjoying all the activities that Vail, Colorado has to offer, you really can't go wrong by converging on the Teva Moutain Games at the end of May.

Tuning in to watch the games

Even if you can't make it to Vail, you can still tune in for some of the fun. From May 2nd through May 31, the Altitude Sports Channel is running the 2011 TMG Highlight Show daily to build up the excitement for the 2012 games. While the 2012 broadcast schedule is yet to be announced, you can check the TMG website for updates to be sure you're ready to turn on the TV, fire up your internet or set your DVR to catch all the action.
